On Friday 11 July, Burna Boy stunned many of his followers
when he took to Twitter to announce the firing of his mom, Bose Ogulu,
as his manager.
“It’s been a long road to where I am
today and my mother, Bose Ogulu, has managed me the best she could up
till this point and am grateful…At this point in my life and career, it
is time to let my mother be my mother and let my manager be my manager,
therefore Bose Ogulu is no longer my manager…All bookings and enquirers
for BURNA BOY should now referred to burnaboybookings@gmail.com. Thanks
for your understanding,” he tweeted.
Just as he posted
these series of tweets, the social media was in a frenzy as the news
trended endlessly and the dancehall star was forced to remove the tweets

While different reasons have been adduced to the parting
of ways of Burna Boy and his mother/Manager, money has been singled out
as the major cause of the strained business relationship.
Unconfirmed
reports have it that the Aristokrat Records’ leading act, has not been
happy with the way his finances were being handled by his manager
mother.

contacted Burna Boy’s management for clarification, our correspondent
was asked to call back and as at press time, we were yet to get a
response.
Bose Ogulu, who has managed Burna Boy for the
past few years, is the daughter of Benson Idonije, a veteran
broadcaster and highlife critic who once managed Afrobeat creator, Fela
Anikulapo-Kuti.
The split is coming at a time strong
rumours have been swirling around over his future with Aristokrat
Records, the label that brought him to limelight.
