At the just concluded biggest African music awards in Diaspora AFRIMMA,
it was a night of celebration of African music as well as African icons
who have played a prominent role in the emancipation of African music.
Apart from the regular categories of awards, three legendary individuals
were honored by AFRIMMA for their service to African music at Eisemann
Center, Dallas, Texas.
Topping the pile is His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Dr. Godswill Akpabio who
was honored with the Transformational Leadership Award for initiating
the record-setting 9,999 Christmas Carol Night. South African music
legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka was also bestowed with Legendary Award while 2face Idibia received the Leadership in Music Awards.”
